  Bike hire is available from Cyclewise, next to Go Ape (£15 for 3 hours and £20 all day). During the school holidays they also offer a Junior skills course at £10 per hour including bike hire. www.cyclewisetraining.co.uk

  There are five car parks (must be a popular spot!) £1.50 up to 1hr, £3 up to 2 hours, £5 up to 4 hours & £6.50 all day. If you are a frequent visitor to the forest then you may benefit from purchasing a Forestry Commission Discovery Pass.

  The new 19km, red grade, 'Altura' trail was opened in December 2008 offering 15 km of single track. A blue grade track is currently under construction and should be ready for summer 2009.

  Dogs are welcome anywhere in the forest with the exception of the children's play area.

  There are 8 waymarked trails from 1 to 4.5 miles and 3 high level, strenuous routes to neighbouring fell-tops. There are also 3 junior trails with maps available at a nominal cost from the visitor centre.
• Food and Drink

  Siskins cafe is open 10am-4.30pm in the week and 10am-5.00pm at the weekends. It sells a range of fresh food from locally sourced ingredients (where possible)and has a large south facing balcony so you can enjoy the views and the wildlife whilst eating.

  Adjacent to the cafe is a large area with picnic tables where you can eat your own food, although barbeques are not allowed. There are also three other picnic areas in the forest.

  The visitor centre offers an information service as well as selling a variety of gifts and local craft produce.

  A large play area is available at all times with slides, swings and many other obstacles that are similar to those found 40 feet higher on the Go Ape course!

  The toilets are less than 100 meters from the Go Ape cabin.
